Custom field with spaces

Description
If a custom field has values that contain spaces, only the first letter is displayed.
Example: In Redmine I had the custom field “Difficulty”, with the possible values: “Too Easy”, “Easy”, “Normal”, “Hard”, “Very Hard”. After installing candycane and importing Redmine’s DB, they appeared as: “T”, “Easy”, “Normal”, “Hard”, “V”.

Custom field seems have many issue.
This may not be just a small fix.
